I'm BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!

Wonderboy
guess who's back

Just sayin'

Wonderboy
Sitting here, on this lonely dock
Watch the rain play on the ocean top
All the things I feel I need to say
I can't explain in any other way

I need to be bold
Need to jump in the cold water
Need to grow older with a girl like you
Finally see you are naturally
The one to make it so easy
When you show me the truth
Yeah, I'd rather be with you
Say you want the same thing too

Now here's the sun, come to dry the rain
Warm my shoulders and relieve my pain
You're the one thing that I'm missing here
With you beside me I no longer fear

I need to be bold
Need to jump in the cold water
Need to grow older with a girl like you
Finally see you are naturally
The one to make it so easy
When you show me the truth
Yeah, I'd rather be with you
Say you want the same thing too

I could have saved so much time for us
Had I seen the way to get to where I am today
You waited on me for so long
So now, listen to me say:

I need to be bold
Need to jump in the cold water
Need to grow older with a girl like you
Finally see you are naturally
The one to make it so easy
When you show me the truth
Yeah, I'd rather be with you
Say you want the same thing too
Say you feel the way I do

Sorry for the lack of updates. Last week my sister gave birth to her third child and my second nephew Griffin Robert Steiner who weighed in at a masculine 7 lbs, 8 oz. and 20 inches tall. Also, my brother and I were asked to be godfathers to little Griffin which we're also pretty pumped about. Anyhow, here's some pictures of the little guy for your ooh-ing and ahh-ing pleasure.

Dad

Wonderboy

Goodbye Dad.

dad memorial copy.jpg

Dear Friends,

On Friday, after two years of graciously beating the odds against brain cancer a loving husband, inspiring father, and generous friend passed away. Many people have already shared their thoughts and kind words with our family regarding my Dad. After many attempts to find words that would express my feelings of love and loss I find myself lacking the flair and cleverness he was known for and would like to share a few words from a dear friend of the family who wrote this about him:

“Bob left us in a peaceful, gentle moment fitting of a most beautiful and sweet man. Bob lived the definition of a full life and the one word that aptly describes what it was like to have shared some of that life with him is, privileged. The impact this man had on the world and the people around him is remarkable. Through his service to our country, his outstanding career and his powerful role in the hearts and lives of our family and friends, Bob quietly inspired everyone he met and lived the kind of life to which so many aspire. Many wonderful stories will be shared and much will be said in honor of Bob's remarkable life in the days, weeks and years to come.”

Thanks to everyone for their support during this difficult time and for those of you who knew him, thank you so very much for the joy and love that was a part of my father's rich and wonderful life. I'm sure he would look forward to me getting the site back on track after having abandoned it in light of my Dad's illness.

Much Love,

Dave

SCUD THE DISPOSABLE ASSASSIN : THE WHOLE SHEBANG!

As the yellow robot assassin Scud himself puts it, "bullets are cheaper than human life." Corner vending machines provide the most popular weapon of the times: Scud disposable assassins: Robot hitmen that self-destruct when they kill their target. This epic volume follows Scud 1373, assigned to take out a hideous female man-eater named Jeff. While fighting Jeff, Scud discovers his warning panel in a bathroom mirror. Realizing that to kill Jeff is to kill himself, Scud blows does what anyone else would do...  he blows off Jeff's arms and legs and hospitalizes her. Jeff's life support bills will have to be paid, and Scud will have to find more work to stay alive. Follow the craziness that is SCUD from the beginning to end with this collection aptly titled the "Whole Shebang."  Coming in at 786 pages it is an epic steal at 15 bucks if you click on the pic above. SCUD was one of those books my brother got me into when I was a  younger lad, at the time the art threw me off a bit, but today I am in love with it. I read this entire book on my north bound flight from Savannah to come home for the holidays. SCUD may not be the feel good book to warm the cockles of your heart this holiday season, but it is one to kick start you holidays with a bang!

HAPPY TURKEY DAY EVERYONE!

Wildcats: Street Smarts - Volume 1

First up we have the relaunch of Jim Lee's W.I.L.D.CATS series with writer Scott Lobdell and the fantastic artist Travis Charest.

When this book came out many people dove in to the rich story and awesome art work, however Charest's deadline woes made the book notoriously late. However, now you don't have to worry about those monthly woes anymore, now collected for your convinience is the first story arc from this dynamic duo. The story is one of a team broken apart and gone their own seperate ways only to find their paths coming together once more. This is a great introduction to the updated Wildcats world and a perfect jumping on point for non-WildC.A.T.s fans. This book will grab you and throw you into the crazy world that belongs to these wonderful characters. If you haven't checked out WILDCATS: STREET SMARTS , you should!

**MUST READS** #3 Twelve Reasons I love Her

Wonderboy

So this weeks must read is the book "Twelve Reasons I Love Her." It is written by Jamie Rich and illustrated by Joelle Jones. A romance novel told in twelve individual vignettes the book explores the relationship of a young couple Gwen and Evan, traversing the ups and downs of their romantic life together. To say that the book is a classic romance book would be doing it a great injustice. It is a light hearted heart string tugging book that leaves you thinking. The art is beautiful and a great expierience for the eyes. It's slick but full of heart. There is a great flow to this book that allows it to be a quick read that leaves you wanting more but satisfied with your read. If you can pick this book up.

Also this week I have a kick ass video of my friend and fellow artist Brandon Clark rocking out Mark Cohen's classic Walking in Memphis.

If you dig his performance you should head on over to his site or his myspace at : http://www.myspace.com/brandonclarkhttp://www.brandonclarkmusic.com   Check him out and support the ARTS! WOOO! Peace and luck till next time folks!

**MUST READS** #2 AMERICAN ELF Vol. 1

Wonderboy
This weeks must read is the winner of the Ignatz Award for both Outstanding Comic and Outstanding Online Comic,  the first volume of Mr. James Kochalka's American Elf.  Yesterday (October 26th) marked the 10 year anniversary of American Elf and he is still going strong, this book is where it all began back in 1998. The strips themselves are so simple and straightforward it makes them an easy and fun read. Besides all that the author is a stand up guy as well as a rock star, artist, author and father. If you get the chance, head on over to his site to check out his latest strips at http://www.americanelf.com/ . So far there are three volumes collecting his strips but this by far is my favorite. It is great to see his characters evolve and change every day. At 520 pages, this book is a good chunk of reading that will entertain you time and time again plus besides the strips it also has some fun supplemental sketches and pages for your enjoyment. It's odd to hold 5 years of somebodies life in your hands but Mr. Kochalka makes it a fun trip down memory lane going through the ups and downs, smiles and frowns. It pulls you in and will keep you coming back!  If you haven't checked this book out you should! Happy Anniversary James!

AMERICAN ELF: THE COLLECTED SKETCHBOOK DIARIES OF JAMES KOCHALKA
(October 26, 1998 to December 31, 2003)

Also right now you can get the book on sale over at Top Shelf's site, you can check it ou by clicking the pic above! If you want to check out a cool article about Mr. James Kochalka and his strips 10 year anniversary check out this link . Thats about it for me this week! Hope all you at there enjoy and keep on reading!

**MUST READS** #1

Wonderboy
So I think I am going to start up a new column of this blog following the lines of the greatest Sequential podcast out there. (SEQA LAB, check us out on Itunes!) I will be doing a Book review a week for the rest of the year these will range from mainstream stuff to alternative and indy books.

So to start things off right I will start with the book "The Damned."

"Sometimes, the only person you can trust is a dead man. Caught in the middle of a sinister web of murder, kidnapping, betrayal, and damnation, Eddie – cursed and unable to rest- can’t escape the city’s most ruthless warring demon gangs. This action-packed prohibition-era thriller combines the supernatural sensibilities of Joss Whedon with the stark reality of MILLER’S CROSSING and THE GODFATHER."

It is written and illustrated by Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt. This book is a great amalgamation of adventure, scifi and horror, blending them into a great story that keeps you interested and involved with the characters. The style of both the writing and the art is straight foreword and to the point making the book a solid bet to keep you interested.. Not to ruin anything but if you dig on demons and gangters, this is the book for you! Oni has put out some really good books this year, I picked this one up at SPX a few weeks ago and have already given it the once through 3 times. CHECK IT OUT! You won't be dissapointed.

Plus if you head over to Oni's site by clicking the pic above you can check out 40 pages of the book for FREE!
